Owl on a Ginkgo Branch, 1900

Ohara Koson

A small owl watches from a moonlit branch, feathers picked out in fine line.

A round-eyed owl perches on a ginkgo branch beneath a thin crescent moon — quiet, decorative and gently charming. Koson's bird prints reduce the night to a few flat shapes and soft colours, making timeless, calming wall art.

What you're looking at

The moon is a thin crescent, not a full moon, set high in the top right against a flat graded grey. The owl grips a black diagonal branch and turns its head to look straight out. The leaves are ginkgo, printed as pale fans. Koson's signature and red seal sit in the empty lower left, which is otherwise entirely bare.

On a Frame TV

About 1:2 — far taller than a Frame TV, so the matted file, and a good deal of the screen will be mat. Soft greys throughout with almost no contrast: lovely in a dim room, nearly gone in daylight.
