Mucha's slender, elegant poster for Sarah Bernhardt caused a sensation overnight in 1895 Paris. Tall, decorative and crowned with flowing line and pattern, it defined the Art Nouveau style — advertising elevated into pure ornamental beauty.
What you're looking at
It is close to life-size — nearly two metres tall and narrow enough that it had to be printed in two separate sheets and joined, because no press could take the height. Mucha designed it in a fortnight over Christmas 1894 for a theatre that needed a poster immediately, and Paris had never seen anything that shape. Sarah Bernhardt signed him for six years on the strength of it.

About 1:3, the most extreme shape in the collection. Even matted, most of a 16:9 screen will be surround — this is honestly a better print than it is a Frame TV image, and the matted file is the only version worth using.
